Types & Symbols -
Some of the ways God speaks to us
 

God wants us to know Him and to know all that He has in store for us. Mark 4:11, 12, I Cor. 2:7-9. But we in our unrenewed minds Is. 55:7-9, cannot comprehend God, so He sent His Word (Yeshua and His Holy scripture), to show Himself to us, that we might know and have fellowship with Him. Heb. 8:5, Luke 8:9-10 To awaken us to the importance of searching the scripture and of rightly dividing the word. Matt; 16:3 To awaken the excitement and joy (Fs 1 :2) of seeking after the mysteries of God. Rev. 10:7, Deut 29:29, Luke 8:10.
 

 

Dream - Images, idea, thoughts, or emotions resembling reality, that pass through the mind, in a movie-like fashion during sleep. Numbers 12:6, Joe12:28, Matthew 1:20

Vision - A dream that takes place while awake; having the eyes open to the spiritual rea1Jn. Supernatural happening that has the substance of what we call reality for revelation. Numbers 12:6, Joe12:28, Acts 2:17, Acts 9:10,12

Figure - The outer line, external shape of something. An impression, representation or expression (visually or verbally) that serves as a tool for recognition of that which It represents. Romans 5:14, Hebrews 9:9,24; 11:19; I Peter 3:21

Shadow - An image that shows the figure or general form of something which is the result of light being cast upon something of substance. Example: A sample or part of some thing used as a model or pattern of the whole. An illustration person or thing displayed for the purpose of being copied or avoided. Co12:17, Hebrews 8:5, 10: 1

Similitude - A person or thing that resembles something else.. A shape, form, model, or likeness that is patterned after an original. Deuteronomy 4:12, 15, 16; Daniel 10: 16, Hosea 12:10, Romans 5:14, Hebrews 7:15

Type - Something having qualities and characteristics like unto a specific person; a figure that foreshadows something or someone that is yet to come. Romans 5:14, I Corinthians 10:6,11

Angel of the Lord - A theophany, a manifestation in the physical realm of the pre-incarnate Christ. The appearing and revealing of God to man. Genesis 18, Exodus 3, Judges 6 and 13.

Pattern - The original from which a copy is made. Exodus 25:9, I Chronicles 28:11, 12, 19, I Timothy 1:16, Hebrews 8:5

Dark Saying - A truth which is hidden with the intent of being searched out. A riddle in which the facts must be untangled and arranged to be understood. Numbers 12:8, Psalms 49:4; 78:2, Proverbs 1:6, Daniel 8:23

Sign - A symbol used to point to something of significance. Exodus 3: 12, Isaiah 7: 11, 14; Matt 12:39, John 20:30

Signifying of the Holy Spirit - To indicate the will of God through the use of a sign. John 12:33; 18:32; 21:19, Acts 11:28, Revelation 1:1

Allegory - A story that has its true meaning concealed in signs symbols shadows and figures. Galatians 4:24
